Arts & Sciences Support of Education Through Technology (ASSETT) is situated in the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). We are hiring three 50% time Graduate Assistants and one hourly graduate student position for the 2024-25 academic year to support and enhance our programs, services, and uses of emerging information technologies. This GA will support ASSETT programming related to the Faculty Fellows learning community, Buffscreate, Visualizing Instructional Practices (VIP), instructional design, generative AI, Open Educational Resources (OER) and open educational practices are all potential areas of support work. Additionally, this position will provide support for our website and other digital communications. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is willing to increase their knowledge in these areas. Reports to Amanda McAndrew, the CTL Assistant Director - ASSETT.

This GA will support ASSETT’s Visualizing Instructional Practices Service by conducting classroom observations, maintaining R scripts and RMarkdown documents that generate observation visualizations and reports, and helping to manage service logistics (e.g., coordinating observations and observers). Other responsibilities will include helping to design and conduct internal research and supporting other activities and programs in ASSETT and the CTL. Student Initiatives Coordinator Graduate Assistant

ASSETT employs two groups of undergraduate student employees - the Educational Technology Research Assistants and the Students as Pedagogical Consultants. The Educational Technology Research Assistants research emerging technologies in higher education, such as AI in teaching and learning. The Students as Pedagogical Consultants partner with faculty to improve teaching and learning through a collaborative pedagogical approach. Both groups provide a student perspective on higher education. 

This GA is responsible for coordinating the daily operations of these undergraduate student teams, supporting other campus-wide student success initiatives and projects within the Center for Teaching and Learning and ASSETT, and assisting the Student Initiatives Administrator with presenting, archiving, and collecting data from these initiatives. Reports to Jacie Moriyama, ASSETT’s Student Services Program Administrator.

This hourly (up to 5 hours/week on average, $30/hr) graduate student position will support activities and programs in ASSETT and the CTL. A primary job responsibility will be to conduct classroom observations for ASSETT’s Visualizing Instructional Practices Service (training provided). Additional job responsibilities will vary week to week based on needs and interest, and may include, but are not limited to: curating resources and references on a variety of teaching, learning, and technology topics; developing web, infographic, and/or video content; assisting with events; assisting with data analysis, etc. Reports to Sarah Andrews, ASSETT’s Teaching, Learning, and Technology Assessment Consultant.
