Several useful calendar features are available in D2L. A personal calendar is accessible from the D2L home page and a separate course calendar is available for each course.

The calendar tool is a widget. To add it to your course, go to edit course and choose widgets. For more details see the article on widgets. (link)

Using the course calendar is an excellent organizational tool for students and instructors as it creates a central location for students to stay on track with deadlines. Events such as office hours, assignments, quizzes, exams and other class activities can be added directly to the calendar. Also, the calendar is very helpful for student reminders.

Dropbox, Quizzes, Surveys, Discussions and Content items (like readings) can all be easily added to the calendar by simply checking a box when creating the item. Students can then access these items directly from the calendar for ease of navigating the system.

Items from your personal calendar will be visible to you within a course calendar but not to other members of the class. You can adjust settings in your personal calendar to view course entries as well. Import and export features are also available for integration with other calendar tools.

Additionally, if the groups tool is in use, calendar entries can be made visible only to members of a specific group.
